Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple yesterday announcing the iPhone’s latest iteration. The new version of the iPhone.
The new 3G iPhone will be sold in 22 new countries, including Astralia, Denmark, Mexico, Sweden, the UK, Canada, Norway, the US and Ireland.
It’ll cost $199 for the 8Gig model and $299 for the 16G one at least in the US, with a 2-year contract. No word at the moment on pricing anywhere else. The 3G iPhone is released in all the countries on July 11th.
Are you drooling yet?
And, they also announced a new name for .Mac. It’s going to be called the widely predicted Mobile Me and will mean Push email, push contacts and push calendar… not to mention 20Gigs of online storage. Sweet. It’s not free, though, but it’s not too steep at $100 a year. And if it’s so much better than the old .mac it might actually be worth it. Only time will tell, really and there’s a free 60 day trial starting in early July.
Apple also announced yesterday at Apple’s Worldwide developers conference the name of the new version of OS X. It’ll be called Snow Leopard. Kind of unoriginal since the current one is called Leopard. It’s not expected to ship for about another year and will be less of a revolution and more of an evolution. It’s supposed to “enhance the performance of OS X and set a new standard for quality… rather than focusing primarily on new features.”
